Point 2 help Avanton secure Old Kent Road approval

It was another successful evening at Southwark earlier this month with our client Avanton Limited and Urban & Provincial receiving a unanimous resolution to grant for this fantastic scheme for the former Carpet Right site on the Old Kent Road designed by award winning architects Farrells. Yet another key development in the Old Kent Road regeneration.

The development comprises the demolition of existing buildings on the site and the comprehensive mixed-use redevelopment of the site comprising of two buildings of 10-storeys and 19-storeys plus mezzanine to provide 262 residential units, 2,258sqm  of flexible retail and commercial floorspace at ground and mezzanine level, a new public park, private and communal amenity space.

With 39% of the new homes dedicated as affordable, the site forms part of Avanton and Farrells wider Ruby Triangle development, a jewel in the crown of Southwark’s Old Kent Road Opportunity Area.

Focusing on large-scale and high density regeneration projects in Central London, designing daylight compliant schemes from the very early days of a project is vital. Point 2 have supported us on various site analyses , guiding our design team as to where massing can increase, and where it is at risk.

We enjoy working with them as their advice is solid, comprehensive, conclusive and provided in a timely manner, which is significant when dealing with large developments.
